Stueve Construction is seeking dependable, safety-minded Construction Laborers to support the construction of fertilizer and agribusiness facilities.

This position performs a wide range of general construction duties while working alongside experienced field crews, supervisors, equipment operators, and other trades. Projects may include dry fertilizer storage buildings, liquid fertilizer facilities, blending systems, receiving and loadout areas, structural steel, concrete work, equipment installation, and other specialized agricultural construction.

Safety Comes First

Safety is the most important responsibility on every Stueve Construction project.

Every Construction Laborer is expected to follow established safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment, identify unsafe conditions, and immediately report hazards or concerns to a supervisor.

Employees must work in a manner that protects themselves, their coworkers, subcontractors, customers, and anyone else on or near the jobsite.

No task is so urgent that it should be completed in an unsafe manner.

Construction Laborers are expected to:

• Follow all company safety policies and jobsite safety requirements.
• Wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility clothing, hearing protection, and fall protection when required.
• Participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job hazard discussions.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas to reduce trip, fall, and equipment hazards.
• Use tools and equipment only as instructed and in accordance with safety procedures.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, near misses, or injuries.
• Follow lockout/tagout, fall protection, ladder, scaffold, excavation, lifting, and other applicable safety procedures.
• Remain aware of moving equipment, cranes, trucks, lifts, and other activity on an active construction site.
• Stop work and notify a supervisor if a situation appears unsafe.

General Job Responsibilities

Construction Laborers may perform a variety of duties depending on the stage and type of project, including:

• Assist construction crews with general building and site work.
• Load, unload, move, organize, and stage construction materials.
• Assist with concrete forming, placing, finishing, and cleanup.
• Assist with structural steel and building erection activities.
• Help install wall panels, roofing materials, insulation, framing, and other building components.
• Assist with installation of conveyors, fertilizer handling equipment, storage systems, and related components.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and properly.
• Assist with drilling, fastening, cutting, grinding, measuring, and assembly work.
• Set up and maintain work areas.
• Perform demolition, cleanup, and material removal when required.
• Assist skilled tradespeople, equipment operators, foremen, and supervisors.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition.
• Help prepare jobsites for upcoming construction activities.
• Perform general housekeeping throughout the workday.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Work cooperatively with other employees and trades on the project.
• Perform other construction-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous construction experience is helpful but not always required.

Build the Facilities That Keep Agriculture Moving

Position Summary

The Field Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction activities on assigned fertilizer and agribusiness projects.

This position coordinates field crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, schedules, safety requirements, and project specifications while maintaining communication with project managers, engineers, vendors, customers, and company leadership.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on construction professional who can anticipate challenges, solve problems in the field, maintain productivity, and lead construction teams toward the successful completion of complex agricultural facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily construction activities at fertilizer and agribusiness project sites.
• Provide leadership and direction to Stueve Construction field personnel, subcontractors, and other project participants.
• Ensure construction is completed according to approved drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and quality standards.
• Coordinate erection and installation of structural, mechanical, conveying, storage, blending, receiving, loadout, and related facility systems.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, vendors, equipment suppliers, and customers throughout construction.
• Review construction drawings and specifications and identify potential field conflicts before they create delays.
• Develop and maintain short-term construction schedules and coordinate manpower, equipment, deliveries, and subcontractors.
• Monitor project progress and communicate schedule, manpower, material, or equipment concerns to project management.
• Maintain high standards for workmanship and construction quality.
• Conduct regular field inspections to confirm work complies with project requirements.
• Coordinate material deliveries and verify materials and equipment are available when required.
• Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily reports, progress information, photographs, change documentation, and other required project records.
• Participate in project meetings and provide clear updates regarding construction progress.
• Assist with project startup, commissioning, punch-list completion, and final turnover to the customer.
• Help identify opportunities to improve construction methods, productivity, safety, scheduling, and overall project execution.

Safety Leadership

The Field Construction Manager is expected to actively promote and enforce a strong safety culture on every project.

Responsibilities include conducting or coordinating safety meetings, identifying potential hazards, confirming proper use of personal protective equipment, maintaining safe work areas, and ensuring employees and subcontractors comply with company policies and applicable safety regulations.

This position requires a leader who understands that successful construction means completing the project efficiently while making sure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five or more years of commercial, industrial, agricultural, or heavy construction experience.
• Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent, Field Manager, Project Superintendent, Construction Manager, or similar field leadership position.
• Experience managing multiple construction crews and subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, structural systems, concrete, steel erection, mechanical equipment, and construction sequencing.
• Agricultural construction, fertilizer facility, grain facility, feed mill, bulk material handling, industrial storage, or process facility experience is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
• Ability to identify construction problems and develop practical field solutions.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and company leadership.
• Working knowledge of OSHA construction safety practices.
• Ability to use computers, tablets, project management software, email, and electronic construction drawings.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively to construction projects.

Knowledge of Fertilizer Facilities Is a Plus
